Anya discovered barefoot shoes after a lifetime of foot pain and believing she would never find comfortable shoes again. She launched her website Anya's Reviews to share what she learned and educate others about the many stylish and functional barefoot shoe options available. Soon after, she - together with her family - launched the Anya's Shop retail store to help make small barefoot shoe brands more accessible to a wider audience.

Anya and her team consistently heard from people interested in barefoot shoes that they wished they could try them on in person. To that end, Anya's team began holding in-person try-on and shopping events in 2022 and the first Barefoot Shoe Expo was launched in 2024. This year's expo is the biggest and best yet!
